PBS Channel: Where to Watch on TV

Ever wondered where to find your favorite PBS shows? With a wide range of educational, informative, and entertaining content, it's no surprise that many viewers are curious about what TV channel PBS is on. Let's delve into the world of Public Broadcasting Service and explore how to find it in your area.

PBS, or Public Broadcasting Service, is a non-profit American public broadcasting television service that was established in 1969. It's known for its high-quality programming, including news, science, history, and cultural shows, as well as children's programming through PBS Kids. But where can you find this wealth of content on your TV?

Finding PBS on Your TV

PBS is not available on a single national channel. Instead, it's a network of over 350 member television stations across the United States. Each station is independently owned and operated, and they all affiliate with PBS to bring you the programming you love.

To find out what channel PBS is on in your area, you'll need to look up your local PBS station. Here's how:

Using Your TV Guide

Most modern TVs have an electronic program guide (EPG) that lists all the channels available in your area. To find PBS, simply look for your local PBS station's call letters (e.g., WGBH for Boston, WNET for New York) in the channel list. Once you've found it, note down the channel number.

If you're having trouble finding it, try searching for 'PBS' in the EPG's search function. Keep in mind that PBS stations may have multiple channels, so you might find PBS Kids or other PBS sub-channels as well.

Checking Online

If you're having trouble finding your local PBS station on your TV, you can always look it up online. The PBS website has a handy station finder tool that can help you locate your local station and find out what channel it's on.

Simply visit pbs.org/about/contact/station-finder/, enter your zip code, and the website will provide you with the name and channel number of your local PBS station.

Streaming PBS Content

In today's digital age, you don't always need a TV antenna or cable subscription to watch PBS shows. Many PBS stations offer live streaming and on-demand content through their websites and apps.

To access this content, simply visit your local PBS station's website or download its app. You may need to create an account and provide your zip code to verify your location. Once you're set up, you can stream PBS shows live or watch them on-demand at your convenience.

PBS Passport

If you're a PBS donor, you may have access to PBS Passport, a benefit that provides extended access to a rich library of PBS programming. Passport offers thousands of hours of content, including full seasons of many of your favorite PBS shows.

To access Passport, visit your local PBS station's website, click on the 'Passport' link, and follow the instructions to activate your account. Once you're logged in, you can start streaming your favorite PBS shows.

Now that you know how to find PBS on your TV and how to stream its content online, you're ready to enjoy all the educational, informative, and entertaining programming that PBS has to offer. Happy viewing!
