Pooja Room Direction in Tamil: Which Side Should Face?

In the rich tapestry of Tamil culture, the orientation of a pooja room, or a place of worship, holds significant importance. The direction in which the pooja room faces can influence the positive energy it brings into the home. So, the question "pooja room which side should face in Tamil" is a common one among Tamil households.

Understanding the concept of 'Vastu Shastra', the ancient Indian science of architecture, can help us determine the ideal direction for a pooja room. According to Vastu, the pooja room should be placed in the northeast corner of the house, and it should face the northeast direction. Let's delve deeper into this, exploring the significance of each direction and the benefits they bring.

Understanding Directions in Vastu Shastra

Vastu Shastra assigns different energies and elements to each direction. By aligning the pooja room with these energies, we can invite positivity and prosperity into our homes.

For instance, the northeast direction is associated with the element of water and the planet Jupiter. Jupiter is known for its wisdom and wealth, making the northeast an auspicious direction for a pooja room.

North and Northeast Directions

The north direction is governed by the planet Kuber, the god of wealth. Placing the pooja room here can invite financial prosperity into the home. However, the northeast direction is considered more auspicious due to its association with Jupiter.

Moreover, the northeast direction allows for the smooth flow of positive energy, or 'prana', into the home. This can bring about a sense of peace, harmony, and spiritual growth.

East Direction

The east direction is ruled by the sun, the source of life and energy. Placing the pooja room here can bring in a lot of positive energy and vitality. However, it's important to note that the east direction can also bring in excessive heat and energy, which might disturb the balance in the home.

Therefore, while the east direction is beneficial, the northeast direction is considered more balanced and auspicious for a pooja room.

Designing the Pooja Room

Once you've decided on the direction, the design of the pooja room also plays a crucial role in harnessing positive energy.

According to Vastu, the pooja room should be square or rectangular in shape, with the longer side facing north or east. The height of the room should be greater than its length and width. The pooja room should also be well-lit, with natural light preferred over artificial light.

Placement of Idols

The idols in the pooja room should be placed in such a way that the worshipper faces the east or north direction while praying. This allows the worshipper to receive the positive energy flowing from these directions.

Moreover, the idols should be placed at a height that is comfortable for the worshipper to sit and pray. The height should also allow for the free flow of energy around the idols.

In conclusion, the direction of the pooja room is a critical aspect of creating a spiritually enriching and harmonious home. By understanding and following the principles of Vastu Shastra, we can create a pooja room that brings positivity, prosperity, and spiritual growth into our lives. So, when considering "pooja room which side should face in Tamil", remember that the northeast direction, with its association with Jupiter and the element of water, is the most auspicious choice.
