24 reactions | Since the year is wrapping up I figured I’d reshare the biggest project of 2025, specifically this video that started it all. Here, we started refacing our cabinet doors, but now they’re completed, hung, and painted! This DIY is actually really simple. We ripped down 1/8 inch plywood (sounds like I said 8 inch plywood 🥴) to sheets that are wide enough to cover the grooves in the current door design. We secured the boards with liquid nails and 1/4 inch finish nails. Once that was done, we mudded, sanded, and painted them all. Go check out @fifthgenerationrenovation to see the finished look! What do you think? Would you attempt the diy or buy new?! #kitchenremodel #kitchenreno #kitchenrenovations #kitchencabinetdesign #shakercabinets | Fifth Generation Renovation | Facebook

Shaker doors typically feature a five-piece construction, with a center panel and four surrounding pieces. You can customize the look by choosing different wood types, stains, or paint colors. For a more contemporary look, consider pairing Shaker doors with sleek hardware and modern countertops.

Raised-Panel Doors: Elegant and Sophisticated

Raised-panel cabinet doors add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your kitchen. Their intricate, three-dimensional design creates visual interest and depth, making them an excellent choice for formal or traditional kitchens.

Raised-panel doors can be made from various wood types, such as maple, cherry, or oak, and can be stained or painted to match your kitchen's color scheme. To enhance their visual impact, consider using a glaze or distressing technique to highlight the door's intricate details.

Metal Cabinet Doors: Modern and Industrial

Metal cabinet doors are perfect for creating a modern, industrial, or contemporary look in your kitchen. They can be made from various materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum, or brass, and come in a range of finishes to suit your design preferences.

Metal cabinet doors are highly durable, easy to clean, and resistant to heat and moisture, making them an excellent choice for busy kitchens. They can be used to create a striking contrast with wooden or glass cabinets or as a cohesive design element throughout your space.

Stainless Steel: Sleek and Durable

Stainless steel cabinet doors are a popular choice for modern and contemporary kitchens. They exude a sleek, professional look and are incredibly durable, resistant to fingerprints, and easy to clean. Stainless steel doors can be paired with other metal or wood elements to create a cohesive, high-end look.

To minimize the appearance of fingerprints and smudges, consider using a satin or brushed finish instead of a polished one. You can also opt for a textured or patterned stainless steel to add visual interest and reduce the visibility of marks.

Brass: Warm and Inviting

Brass cabinet doors add a warm, inviting touch to your kitchen, making them perfect for transitional or eclectic designs. Brass is a durable, low-maintenance material that develops a beautiful patina over time, adding character and charm to your space.

To prevent brass doors from becoming too overpowering, pair them with other warm metals, such as copper or gold, and balance them with cool-toned elements, like marble or subway tile. You can also opt for a brass and glass combination to create a striking, modern look.

When it comes to replacing your kitchen cabinet doors, the possibilities are endless. Whether you prefer the elegance of glass, the warmth of wood, or the durability of metal, there's an option out there that's perfect for you. So, go ahead and let your creativity flow – your dream kitchen is just a few cabinet doors away!
