How to Build a Medieval Village House in Minecraft
Embarking on a journey back in time, we're going to build a charming medieval village house in Minecraft. This guide will walk you through the process, from gathering materials to crafting the perfect abode for your medieval realm. Let's dive in!
Before we start, ensure you have the right tools and materials. You'll need wood, cobblestone, stone bricks, glass, and a few other essentials. We'll also use various crafting recipes, so familiarize yourself with the crafting interface.
Designing Your House
First, sketch a simple design. Medieval houses were often rectangular, with a thatched roof and wooden walls. Consider adding a chimney for a cozy touch. For this guide, we'll build a 7x7 house with a 5x5 roof overhang.
Next, decide on the layout. A typical medieval house has one or two rooms downstairs and a loft upstairs. Include a door, windows, and perhaps a fireplace or a small garden.
Gathering Materials
Head to a forest for wood and a mountain for stone. You'll need around 56 wood planks (any type), 32 cobblestone, and 16 stone bricks. Don't forget to bring a crafting table and a furnace for smelting.
For a thatched roof, use wheat. Plant wheat in a 9x9 square, wait until it grows fully, then harvest it. You'll need 64 wheat for our roof. Alternatively, use hay bales, which require 9 wheat each.
Crafting Essentials
Craft wood planks from your wood, and stone bricks from cobblestone. You'll also need glass for windows. Smelt sand in a furnace to create glass blocks, then craft them into glass.
Craft a door and a fence gate for your entrance. For the door, place 6 wood planks in the crafting grid. For the fence gate, place 2 wood planks and 4 sticks. Don't forget to craft some beds, chests, and other decorative items.
Building Your House
Now that you have your materials, it's time to build. Start by clearing the area and laying out your foundation with cobblestone. Our house will be 7 blocks wide and 5 deep.
Next, build the walls using wood planks. Place them on all four sides, leaving an opening for your door. Remember to leave space for windows and a chimney (if desired).
Roof Construction
For the roof, place stone bricks on the outer edges of the top layer. This will support your thatched roof. Then, place wheat or hay bales on the roof, leaving a 1-block gap at the edges.
To create the overhang, place stone bricks one block out from the walls, then add another layer of wheat or hay bales. This will give your roof a classic medieval look.
Interior Design
Now for the fun part - decorating! Place your door, windows, and fence gate. Add a fireplace using netherrack and cobblestone, and craft a cauldron for cooking. Place beds, chests, and other decorative items to make it feel like a true medieval home.
Don't forget to add a ladder or stairs leading up to your loft. Up there, you can create a cozy sleeping area or a secret hideaway.
Congratulations! You've just built a beautiful medieval village house in Minecraft. Now, invite your friends over for a medieval feast, or explore the surrounding countryside. The possibilities are endless. Happy building!
